Since 2023, after the October 7th attacks and the start of the war, we have been meeting weekly to hold space for grief and call for a ceasefire. We meet every Wednesday in downtown Victoria, BC.

For members of the Jewish community and friends to engage in facilitated discussion regarding Peter Beinart’s visit to the University of Victoria. The agenda and curriculum are here.
This was held after two evenings of lectures, interviews, and Q&A at the University of Victoria with Peter Beinart (the visit itself was not organised by Kesher).
(Peter Beinart is Professor of Journalism and Political Science at the City University of New York. He is Editor-at-Large of Jewish Currents, a frequent contributor to MSNBC, and a fellow at the Foundation for Middle East Peace. His books include The Crisis of Zionism and Being Jewish after the Destruction of Gaza.)

A zoom seminar with Becca Strober (of Breaking the Silence and "Becca Explains the Occupation") to learn more about peace activism and anti-occupation work in Israel-Palestine and the West Bank.

A benefit concert with Oliver Swain on March 20 to raise money toward the resettlement of a young refugee family arriving in Victoria from Syria that year, whom Congregation Emanu-El sponsored via the Inter-Cultural Association of Greater Victoria.
"PARTNERS FOR PEACE" Documentary Screening and Panel Discussion

Hosted at Odeon 1 as part of the Victoria Film Festival, a showing of "Partners for Peace", a documentary by Ed Kucerak about a delegation of 13 women, under the leadership of Nobel Peace Laureates Jody Williams and Mairead Maguire, who travel to Israel in order to learn from and support the Israeli and Palestinian women in the region who work towards the cause of peace. Approximately 200 people attended!

Hosted at Congregation Emanu-el, Victoria BC and sponsored by INNW, this was an all ages event to raise funds for Yad b’Yad/Hand in Hand school. This event was successful as it raised over $2000. It featured musicians and a sing-a-long with the Victoria Jewish Community Choir and The Klez band.
